Wedding Thoughts

The other day Kat showed me an amazing wedding venue known as the Tagaytay Highlands, and honestly I love it!  It's so nice, I really wanted it as our venue when I saw it!  I mean look at the picture below and you'll see what I mean.  I wish I was rich! Hahahaha, and the way Kat talked about it I think she loves it as much as I do!

Tagaytay Highlands

Though I honestly think we could probably  do it.  As I see it now, we don't have to worry about our funds too much, but adding more like Tagaytay Highlands might be hard.  BUT!!!  I've been doing really well at my job as a first year, already being talked about being number two when the other number two "gets hit by a bus" hahahaha.  That being said, raises happen about once a year, which means August!  My calculations haven't taken into account the two raises that I will most likely be getting before then.

Depending on the raises, we could have a lot more than we are calculating right now!  I'm looking forward to May 20, 2016!!!!  I love you Kat! My beautiful fiancee! <3

1st Food Tasting: Center Table Catering

All bride-to-be's know that the funnest thing in planning a wedding is food tasting. As the name suggest, it is where you're able to have a taste of what the caterer is offering! And the best is, it's for free! Well, others ask for payments but those are deductible when you book them!

My first food tasting adventure began with Center Table Catering. It was held at Star City Theatre last March 9. I came at around 3:00pm, they began at 12:00pm and finished at 5:00pm

When I arrived, I was welcomed by a girl and asked who am I assigned with and for what occasion. I told her it's for a wedding event and she looked surprised. I saw that coming because I really am young. Haha! I told her that I don't know who I'm assigned with, so she told me that Mr. *tooot* will be assigned to me.

I can say that their table set-up and buffet set-up are really nice, but they weren't my type. Maybe someone who looks for something classy and minimalist would go for this one.

The girl was kind to ask if I want to have lunch first, so I did. I actually ate lunch already. Maybe she meant if I want to start tasting their food. I went to the buffet station and no one assisted me. I thought I would get my own. Haha!

Excuse for the crappy photos, I used my Firefly S90 phone. lol

Spaghetti with Creamy Pesto, Beef Lasagna, Lengua con Champignon, Boneless Chicken Barbeque, Garlic Infused Roasted Chicken and River Cobbler with Tartar Sauce

The first thing I ate, was ofcourse, Pasta. I am a Pasta Lover! Here comes my food review. But first, I must say that I really have a twisted taste buds so maybe what's good or bad for me might be the opposite for you. Okay?

Okay, here it comes:

Spaghetti with Creamy Pesto - I was kind of disappointed with this one. First, it was cold and dry. Maybe because I was late, it's my fault lol. But seriously, it wasn't creamy at all! I love the shrimp though. Shrimp is ♥

Beef Lasagna - Ohhhh this one is delish! It was very creamy! I love how the cheese blended well on the tomato sauce, the taste wasn't too overwhelming! It has a very nice aftertaste. I want to get another serving but I was worried that I'll be too full to try the others, lol.

Lengua con Champignon - It wasn't consistent on it's tenderness and it was salty at first. Oh, and I was told that it should be eaten with rice or bread. My bad. haha!

Boneless Chicken Bbq - Meat was difficult to slice, maybe it's cold? I think it's really good if its served hot. The meat is really juicy especially the skin! Uh-oh. I'm getting fat! Haha!

Garlic Infused Roasted Chicken - I was looking for the garlic taste on this one. This one is the opposite of the boneless chicken bbq, it is very tender!!

River Cobbler with Tartar Sauce -  Oh! One of my favorite! It was salty but it's really good!  It is really yummy with the tartar sauce! Trust me! Don't skip the sauce!

Apple and Raspberry Iced Tea

Apple Iced Tea - Meh. I don't like it. No offense, but it tastes like fake apple.

Raspberry Iced Tea - This wasn't impressive either, but it's better than apple! :)

The centerpiece that I'm looking at while I'm eating.

I wasn't able to take a picture of my second plate because I was excited to eat! And Mr. *tooot* was talking to me. Haha!

Eastern Shrimp Rolls - I was looking forward to eating this because of the shrimp! Too bad it wasn't like what I expected it to be. First, I really didn't taste any shrimp and the taste of pork is very dominant. This really disappointed me. I'm sorry.

Beans, Carrots and Marble Potatoes in Rosemary Butter - Cold. But oh my goodness! I love the butter! I actually drank the apple iced tea after taking a bite and I must say it complemented well. I don't know but suddenly, the apple iced tea tasted good. Maybe they should put rosemary butter on apple iced tea? Hahaha jk

US Certified Beef Carving Station - I was asked if I want it just right or toasted. I said I want it toasted so she gave me one. There were three sauces and I picked one. I actually can't remember but it tasted so nice! Although, beef is beef. Ofcourse, it will taste nice!

Parmesan Crusted Baked River Cobbler - I was excited to eat this one because I saw it's river cobbler (just like the one with tartar sauce) but I immediately uhm, put it out of my mouth. I'm sorry. It's just wasn't for me.

Roast Pork Loin with Gravy and Buttered Veggie - No comment on the pork. But mmmm. The vegetables was really good and the mashed potato! Maybe because they used rosemary butter! I have to learn how to make rosemary butter! I am addicted!

Bread - I'm a total sucker for breads! Their bread was really good! I would get many but I was really full! Haha!

Oh look! I was able to take a picture of my second plate! lol

New England Clam Chowder and Sopa de Pampalina

I really am not a fan of soup! I always skip it! But for the sake of our guests I tried it. I got very little servings each.

New England Clam Chowder - Aww hell no! It is creamy,  but it's a no no for me.

Sopa de Pampalina - NOOOO! No! No! No! :3

I'm really sorry. Just look out, if I'm the one writing, expect me to hate soups. But I'll let Steven write next time when we're together, he may write a better judgement than I do. Hehe

Let's go to salad! I wasn't able to take pictures! But they look presentable! of course!

Chicken Sicilian Salad - One word. YUUUUUUUUM. It is really good to eat some greens after eating a lot of meat lol

Chicken Potato Salad with Walnuts and Grapes - It tastes like my mom's macaroni salad.

Okay! Let's go to Desserts! Yipeeee!
I am full! But I won't skip the desserts! Hahaha!

Cream Puff, Choco Eclair, Kiwi Panna Cotta and Creme Brulee

Cream Puff - Wow. Just wow. This is my first time to eat a cream puff and wow. It wasn't too sweet! I love the bread!

Choco Eclair - It has a milky creamy taste. I am not a fan, but I know some guests would love this.

Kiwi Panna Cotta - I wasn't a fan of Panna Cotta, maybe because the first Panna Cotta I tasted didn't taste that good. and I was also hesitant about the kiwi, but I still tried it and eh. I knew it. It's sour!

Creme Brulee - I've been seeing this one on my cafe games and on some blogs that I read and I have high expectations on this one. But, yeah. It was a disappointment to me. First, the texture. I don't know if it's natural but its kinda rough and the carmelized sugar on top wasn't smooth. Maybe they did it in purpose maybe not. i don't know. I have to read some articles on creme this one, maybe I am just ignorant about this one. :3

Mango and Strawberry Panna Cotta, Mango Cake, Tiramisu

Mango and Strawberry Panna Cotta - I didn't like the mango because it's sour like the kiwi and I was also expecting that the strawberry was sour too. I don't like strawberries, but when I ate this one! I was inlove! It really tasted good! And in that instant, I liked strawberries!

Mango Cake - I automatically thought of my mom when I had a bite. My mom would love this! I think this is good with coffee!

Tiramisu - Oh yes! Love it! But since it's really heavy, I only ate a bit.

Mango and Banana Crepe

Mango and Banana Crepe - This is really good. Actually they serve it with lots of whip cream and chocolate syrup. But I asked the girl to not put too much whip cream because I really hate it. Haha! I must say this one is really good!! I love it!

Chocolate Mousse

Chocolate Mousse - This one is also heavy like the tiramisu, as usual on coffee and chocolate based desserts. Haha. This was a so-so, but I know the guests will enjoy this. I just have certain standards on chocolates and this didn't pass. :)

Is it obvious who won?

The only dessert I was able to finish was the strawberry panna cotta. The rest, I only took a bite. Haha! It was a shame to waste desserts but I can't do anything, my stomach will explode. Haha!

Last shot on the centerpiece

There were a lot of misses here, but their food can be really good. You just have to choose the right dishes that suits your taste. We won't get them though, since their styling isn't our type.

Also, Mr. *tooot* was too pushy. He kept asking about when will we book them. He also raised an eyebrow at me. He was asking me my comments about the food, as a foodie, I told him what I think about their food. He raise his eyebrow when I said that the shrimp rolls doesn't taste like shrimp and that it tastes like pork. I didn't like the way he acted. He shouldn't have asked me in the first place if he's not ready to hear it.

There were good points though, There were freebies. Everyone love freebies, right? It depends on how many your guests are. And they are flexible on the styling, like the colors and centerpieces. But I'm still not impressed. Hehe

Anyway, I met a few cool people there. Mr. Maui, he's the supervisor, he went to me as I was having my second plate and talked about Rosemont Garden. He actually mentioned a lot of venues in Tagaytay and for some reason, he kept mentioning Club Balai Isabel. Haha! He's funny though, he's like a long lost friend. Even with the age difference, he is really polite and nice, unlike Mr. *tooot* :P

I also met this girl who laughed with me while I was getting the desserts. She helped me out and even offered a glass of water to me. She's fun, I was actually hesitant to taste all of the desserts because I know I wouldn't be able to finish it.But she said, it's okay to leave the rest. I actually know that but I am shy. Haha! Anyway, this girl, I asked her what her favorites are and with a slight jumping and laughing she pointed out her favorites. I like her! She's like me! haha!

I would still recommend Center Table Catering to other brides! I believe their food is good, you just have to get the right ones! I think if you get the right kinds of food, you'll be able to make your guests rave about the food! Goodluck! :)

Wedding Guest's Lookbook

I was thinking of how we'd have that real vintage ambiance for our wedding. I was thinking of having really vintage decorations but that would mean we'd be spending a lot. I know some caterers have stocks but some still don't fit my imagination. Haha! I then let go of stressing too much on decorations and thought that it would help if the guests participate on our concept. I don't like long gowns or the normal wedding outfit. I want it to be atleast, almost real vintage.

Again, with the help of Pinterest, I saw these..

Oh.. I am inlove! Hahaha! I want to wear all of this in the future! But anyway, I would ask my guests to wear something similar with these or they can copy it!

I am excited to see all kinds of vintage outfit on my wedding day!

Ofcourse, if the guests will wear vintage, the suppliers shall wear vintage too!

I also thought, maybe some won't go real vintage because of so many excuses, so I picked some easy modern vintage that is acceptably good for my taste.

Again, they may copy the outfits or wear something similar. I just hope they won't go too far. In case they really are stubborn guests, I also have a guide on how they can look vintage.

Using some accessories might help too!

And some shoes!

I really hope they would follow the dress code!

We're actually putting a signage at the entrance of the venue saying, "Vintage or GTFO?! -------->"
Hahaha!
