Conceptualizing the Wedding Theme

Wedding Planning isn't easy especially when you want so many things for your wedding. You want to include your favorite TV shows in your wedding but you also want it vintage, you also want some nerdy touch or a mystical touch. Believe me, once you start to think of a unique wedding theme, you'd come up with lots of ideas that might not be good to each other. You have to sort things out, add and remove ideas so as to create a perfect wedding theme for you and your fiance.

One of the most challenging things in planning a wedding is conceptualizing the theme. When Steven and I were still dating, we honestly talk about our future. One time, we were talking about our wedding, and we decided we wanted a picnic style wedding. Something like a barn set-up or a barbecue set-up. Very laid back. I started thinking of the set-up, the decorations and the outfit. It was perfect, in my head atleast. It all started because I wanted to wear cowboy boots on my wedding. I'm a big fan of country music and  country fashion. I love the idea of boots and wedding dress. Plus, I think we'd save a lot of money if we do that. But things changed. The next theme we thought about was the zombie wedding theme. Why? We love The Walking Dead! I started thinking, it would be cool if the guests would wear something creepy. Again, I started thinking of decorations and food specifically. I wanted it to be odd but eatable (lol, is that even a word?). I even started thinking about our entrance, I wanted something really creepy. We also thought, we wouldn't have to spend as much on the wedding dress and suit, and I love the idea of being the creepiest of them all. Haha! I'm weird. I know. Steven too, because he agreed with me. lol But then again, things changed.

I started thinking about my parents, since we're a Christian, would it be right to have a wedding like that? I started liking the traditional wedding. I want to be a princess for a day, I want to see my mom and dad cry (a good cry! okay?), I want to see Steven, waiting for me on the other end, I want to walk down the aisle, I want to exchange romantic vows with my fiance. I want it all.

And so, I started conceptualizing again. And I liked the idea of vintage! But as I researched, I learned that it's pretty common. But I still like the idea of vintage! Then, I thought of something unique. Something that would describe us. Something geeky and romantic at the same time. Geeky, because obviously we're both geeks. I'm somewhat geek but not too much, Steven is geeky. He knows a lot of stuff, lol! Romantic, because it's a wedding!! Haha! Plus, Steven said when he thinks of wedding, he thinks it has pink. Like romantic. And I was once inlove with pink, so I think there's no problem!

And so, earlier today, I thought about how we would combine those things in our wedding. I searched Pinterest, and saw this.

Pretty, right?! We just have to decide what kinds of flowers to use so the decorations will be consistent. I'd be researching about flowers in the future. For now, I'll be looking for decorations.

We won't turn full scientist, we just have to look for geeky decorations. I honestly don't like some of the things that popped out of pinterest when I was searching for geeky ideas. It was all superheros, comics and some TV shows. I know it's geeky but yeah, I don't like it. Haha! So I searched on scientist wedding, literature wedding, math wedding, etc. And pick the things I like, that I know Steven would like too.

We will also put some ideas of travel theme, like maps. Since we're on long distance relationship and vintage baggages. I also combined some from literature, math and garden themes. I am confident it will go well in our wedding. ;)

I was thinking, during the ceremony, everything will be Vintage Garden. And once the Cocktail Hour starts, there would be a hint of Geekiness, but not dominant. And once they enter the Reception Area, it would be Vintage Geek Chic with a hint of Garden.

You might be thinking, how does it go well? How does it work? Well, you'll see on our future posts. ;)

I am glad that when I told Steven about the concept, he liked it! And I am willing to push through this theme! I am confident that it's quite unique! :)

Welcome To The Family..Soon

This weekend I had an amazing time visiting family for my little sisters birthday party.  Even so, I kept feeling that something was missing.  I just kept thinking about Kat.  She is family to me, even if we aren't married yet.  Because she is family, she should have been there with me during times like this.  I can't wait until we live together, I won't have this empty feeling anymore.  If you're reading this Kat, I love you! ♥

The Perks of Having Talented Friends

After being so stressed about the money that we'll be shedding out, I finally had a chance to cut some of the expenses down.

Back story, a few weeks after Steven and I got engaged, I started looking for venues first. Since we're doing a Christian wedding, church is one less of a worry for us. We never considered a hotel either.

After researching and reading about a lot of venues, I realized that we also need to consider the catering. It all got mixed up in my head because venues have different accredited caterers and other suppliers too. And if you got a non-accredited caterer, there would be corkage fees which would be another unnecessary expense.

To think that they will increase rates later this year and the next year scares me. We even went down from 200 guests to 70 guests, but ofcourse, we could increase the number of guests if we have to.

Then after a little bit of research I've learned that couples do prenup and boudoir photoshoots. Which means additional expenses. You have to avail photography services, pay for out of town fees, entrance fees, prenup/boudoir stylists, HMUA and other prenup/boudoir essentials. And since I'm maarte, I want that! Haha!

I asked Sam Pabalan, my good highschool friend, to be our prenup photographer and my boudoir photographer! ♥ I told her we'll answer her entrance fee to Hidden Valley and her travel expenses. That means we would be saving a lot! She also offered to do my make-up and hair! I love it! Ofcourse, we'll give her something too for being so nice to us! I am so excited! I'd be gathering pegs and concepts soon! As for the styling, I'm pretty sure we can pull it off even without a stylist! *crossfingers*

I am confident that she can make me beautiful and make the photos beautiful! Here are some of her works! :) [Note: They are taken from her personal facebook account]

I also talked to some of my friends who uses DSLR and that I know are talented enough to be our back-up photographer on our wedding day! Hi to my HS friends, Jomar and Tony! I would let them shoot before the wedding, during the ceremony and cocktail hour. But I'd let them rest during the reception and be one of our dear guests. It's up to them if they still want to shoot during the reception! I'm so glad!!

We're still going to avail photography services from professionals. We're eyeing a couple of photographers that suits our taste, but for now, I just have to wait till we get to book our venue and other  suppliers!

The beginning of something awesome, something legendary.

This is our very first post on our wedding diary. We will write everything in here: Adventures, misadventures, rants, tips, ups and downs, lessons learned. Every single thing that we encounter during our wedding preparation. We would also be posting different articles and pictures for sharing purposes. Ofcourse, we will put proper credits.

Our wedding would be 2 years from now, and yes, we're already planning this early. But I say, there's nothing wrong with planning early! Haha!

This post is going to be published even before this blog is fixed. We're excited to post! Haha! Well, we don't want to have pending stories so we will blog whenever we have time!

To all the bride-to-be's and groom-to-be's that are reading this blog, Goodluck and Happy Preps! ♥
